How To Make Easy Mince Pies

Ah, the humble mince pie. A traditional festive treat, perfect for pairing with a glass of mulled wine or enjoyed with a delicious hot chocolate in front of the fire.
Shop brought ones can be delicious but none are quite as fun as the ones you make yourself or with your children.
Here are my 8 steps to the making the most, easy (but incredibly tasty) Mince Pies this festive season.
You’ll need:
1. 1x Cupcake or Muffin tin
2. 1x roll of Jus-Rol shortcrust pastry
3. 1x Jar of Mince meat – ours was from Tesco
4. Cookie cutters, circle & star shaped
5. Rolling pin.
6. Some flour, sugar & icing sugar for dusting
7. Egg wash & pastry brush
8. A little helper
To make:
Step 1: Lightly dust work surface with some flour then roll out your pastry until flat. Using the circle cutter cut out 6 shapes.
Step 2: carefully place circle shapes into the cake tin.
Step 3: next, spoon in some Mince meat using a table spoon at a time, be careful not to over fill.
Step 4: using the star cutter, make six stars and place them on top of the mince pie.

Step 5. Brush egg wash over the Mince Pies and sprinkle with a little bit of sugar.
Step 6: if you have any remaining pastry & Mince meat, make a lattice pie slice
Step 7: pop in the oven at 120 degrees until slightly golden
Step 8: Once cooled, sprinkle some icing sugar over the top, serve with brandy cream or clotted cream and enjoy with a hot chocolate or glass of warm mulled wine. Delicious!
