I’m a sucker for brilliantly decorated cupcakes and fancy iced biscuits and Etsy is the perfect place to find them at reasonable prices.
Decorated Easter biscuits have a particular kind of charm that you don’t often see the rest of the year, a kind of all rounder that are a brilliant gifts for children and adults a like.
My youngest, Little Edward, isn’t a big fan of chocolate (I know, I’ve questioned his DNA since birth!) so I wanted something a little different and these sort of biscuits were perfect.
Nila Holden, a boutique bakery specialising in wholesale iced biscuits and artisan cakes was founded in 2012 and are based in Luton, Bedfordshire. They are suppliers to Fortnum and Mason, Harrods and were even commissioned to make biscuits for the Japanese Royal Family! They create everything from edible 3D tea cups to beautiful biscuit birdhouses. Their biscuits combine the finest ingredients with traditional decorative techniques and beautifully styled packaging to create the perfect gift for all occasions, all hand made fresh in their Luton bakery. Their Etsy storesell a range of individual biscuits and gift box collections from Unicorns, baby shower and wedding gifts.
I chose 3 Easter Egg designs at £5 each and a batch of six Easter Chicks for £12, delivery was free (free delivery is always a winner).
They arrived within 3 days of placing the order and I can honestly say, I was not disappointed. Not only were they a lot bigger than I thought they’d be but they smelt absolutely divine. That kind of sweet smell that takes you back to your childhood when you’d walk past a bakery and dream of all the fantastical goodies being baked inside.
I was planning to save them all until Easter but they already had me smitten so I simply had to try one. That’s always a good sign, when something is so irresistible you absolutely can not wait to try it!
I’m not usually a fan of hard, crunchy biscuits, so imagine my delight when these were actually soft. Not soggy soft of course, but fresh baked cookies kinda soft. Perfect for babies and small children. They also tasted amazing, I think the unique texture had something to do with it as they were almost like a scrumptious cake but in a biscuit – a sweet tooths dream!
The icing was just the right amount too, not too much and not overpoweringly sweet, the lovely smooth texture went perfectly with the subtle vanilla flavour of the biscuit, combined they created the perfect treat.
I’ve never tasted anything quite like these, I can certainly see why Nina Holden is so popular. Not only are they expertly decorated but they taste so unique you’ll be hard pressed to find a better biscuit. I’m seriously hoping they do a Christmas range because these will be my main gift of choice.
A big, BIG thumbs up from me. Excellent little find, one I’m sure I’ll be ordering from time and time again. If you’d like to check out Nila Holden for yourself you can visit their website here and their Etsy store here– also, don’t forget to give them a follow on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter – you won’t be disappointed.
